I have a new topic (Suma Car Tax)
I purchased a new car in September and put my old car in part exchange, then cancelled my direct debit on my old car. I visited the Suma office this week with the new vehicle details and they advised me it was still registered in the previous owners name and they had also cancelled their direct debit. My old car was still in my name so they said I had to pay that car tax by Friday or I would be fined and as my new car was not in my name I didnt have to pay that if I didnt want to as the previouse owners (who have gone back to Germany) would be fined for non payment. So, in my view, I would be riding around in my car with no tax (Hence I paid them both although my new car bill was not in my name) I know the garage has rented my old car out and have no intension of selling it.(So if he keeps the car for another 3 years and doesnt change it to his name (as garages dont until they have sold them) I am liable for the car tax each year. WHAT!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS.

You will be untill changed over responsible for parking fines and anything that goes wrong legally if it is still in your name. The firm that sorts this kind of thing out on the strip next to hairdressers. We used them about 4 years ago as there were so many horror stories going around, which all seemed to be true. YOU MUST GET YOUR OLD CAR OUT OF YOUR NAME ASAP or quicker.

May I suggest starting a new topic/post and stop spoiling a fellow members attempt to lighten the forum up a bit. Plus, change your name from Anonymous.
Also, you can advise the SUMA that you don't own the car. Or rent it from the garage and then keep it.. if its still registered in your name, then that should prompt the garage to get the paperwork right.

Take the Suma bills to the garage and get the money back that is owed to you. Tell them you want the change of ownership details done NOW! If its the garage I think it maybe, this has happened before. They always pay the Suma money back but they are slow about the ownership stuff so you need to keep chasing them up. Good Luck
