Private Clinic

I thought I would do a posting about the Private Clinic up the Strip on La Marina urbanisation.
Address: Clinica La Marina, C/Madrid 1, Urb La Marina, 03177 San Fulgencio, Alicante.
Tel: 966 79 6380

I have had such wonderful service from this Clinic for many years now, so felt I would like to share this with the people on the forum. I truly believe that a lot of people think that going private is extremely expensive. Well this is not so. I have just been sent my Renewal for this year.

Normal Subscription is 400 euros per family per year (1 person 200 euros)
BUT, if you pay before the due date it is only 300 euros per family (or 1 person 180 euros).
This covers as many consultations with the Dr as you need in the year.

No appointments are needed to see Dr. Just go when you need to and more often than not you do not have to wait for very long, and on quite a few occasions I have gone straight in. The Dr is very thorough - doing the necessary examinations and she has time to listen to your problems and is extremely friendly and helpful. She is Spanish but speaks excellent English.

The N.H.S of which I also belong to are so overstretched with, most of the time, a room full of patients waiting to be seen. The last time I went there I had to wait nearly 3 hours. I finally got in with two relatively simple problems and to be honest the Dr really was most unhelpful and after about 3 minutes he more or less told me to leave as he had a lot of patients waiting. WELL, yes - I had waited for nearly 3 hours and that was really a complete and utter waste of time.

SO, if you are contemplating going Private you will not do any better than joining Clinica La Marina.

Saying that I do wish everyone a Very Happy & most importantly Healthy New Year !!

La Marina

I fully endorse this posting, I am sure that if it had not been for this clinic and the Doctors, on at least two occassions, I wouldn't be here now, and I don't mean Spain.

Being a member at the Clinic makes me feel a lot safer here in Spain. They are second to none. The NHS operation mean well but all that sitting for hours to be seen and catching god only knows while there is somewhat unacceptable.

We have been a member of this private Clinic more or less since we have lived here and completely agree with everything that has been said. Can't praise the Drs and all the people who work there enough - they do a fantastic job..............

Whilst I concur with everything that has been said about the private clinic there is something you must also be aware of and that is any extra treatment costs i.e. blood tests, x-rays etc and some of the costs can be very expensive. Also any medication that you need has to be paid for in full at the pharmacy and that can be expensive.

If you get medicine on prescription from the private doctor and you are also on NHS you can get the NHS doctor to write a prescription which you take to the chemist along with the original receipt and you will be refunded. Try to get appointments either early morning or evening, there are not so many people at those times.

The factor that puts ME off that clinic is that when I went there I was greeted by an extremely frosty, unfriendly woman before I got to see the doctor. (Personal opinion, she might not still be there)

Regardng the NHS doctor giving you a prescription and you getting a refund I believe that is now not the case and hasn't been for awhile now.

Geoff,
She is still there, sometimes has a frosty look, but is very friendly. She has to concentrate as she has to be ready to translate medical terms and do minor dressings and also fill in paper work, which must be accurate.
I would rather have a frosty greeting and right diagnosis, than a warm greeting with people that don'tknow what they are doing.

Absolutely agree, Robert, but both would be a bonus! I can be friendly AND do the job right!
