Hi, does anyone know of any nearby martial arts classes suitable for children? I know there is one in Torrevieja but its quite late at night and doesnt really suit. Thanks in advance

Quesada

My niece and nephew (aged 7 & 9) go to Karate classes at The Studio on a Thursday night around 7-7.30pm. The Studio is located underneath The Club next to the Country Club.

Hi Jilly
My kids go to karate and TaeKwondo at Sport.in Torrevieja. They love both. Karate is on Friday nights at 8pm (no school the next day) but also the karate is on Sundays at 12.30pm. The Taekwondo is on Mondays at 5pm and on Saturdays at 10am. The instructors are great with the kids. We were advised to check out instructor credentials of any clubs out here when we moved from the UK, and these a guys are fully insured, clean police checks and are even members of creditable federations not just affiliated. If the head instructor can not show you the insurance documents, a police check and certification of their qualification backed by a federation stay well away would be my advice. There should be NO excuse when it comes to these. For me, letting my kids learn something like this is important but I also want to know they are being taught in a safe environment.

Hi Jilly
We are the academy that trains in Torrevieja. You are welcome to come along and the first lesson is always free. Joe was correct in the times on the post earlier, thanks Joe!
At the moment we only train at Sport.in but in a few short weeks a new venue is opening in Quesada and Sasen will be running the martial arts with in it, so we will be training in Quesada again around Christmas time!
We would also like to agree with the comments that Joe made about checking clubs out, some very good and sensible points were made. Joe did all of this when they came along for a trial lesson. Our head sensei will always carry the documents mentioned. What ever club you decide to join please double check that the insurance is taken out by the instructors personally as venue liability insurance does not cover for injuries during a class. Hopefully nothing ever happens but it is better to be safe than sorry. If you would like more information or help in finding a registered and licenced club nearer to you, you can email us on [email protected]
Best wishes from all of us.

Hi completely agree with all comments, always check the instructors are what they say, check their federations and the insurances that they hold with the accredited federations here in Spain.

Yes, and their international federations like us and many other clubs in Spain who are members of huge organisations.

Hi all, my name is Eric and I'm new to this forum. Just been looking at this wall and would like to make a few comments to help people. I am a parent of a child that went to dance at the studio. Afer years of support, sponsored events, buying all their stuff and spending a lot of money, the dance instructor decided to quit and the class dissolved, leaving mine and many other children heart broken. Obviously I am annoyed with the studio and perhaps biased but be careful if you have anything to do with the studio. I assume that the guy starting the taekwondi is the kick boxing guy. My friends boy tried out with him a while ago and was kicked black and blue. His parents did not let him return. I wonder will this new taekwondi class start and stop like the dance?

Anyway, these comments are just me personal opinion, which I am allowed to express.

Sincerely, one unhappy parent of the dance class.

Hi Eric after reading your comments I am sorry to hear that you feel unhappy about your time at the studio or more importantly that your child's upset. I have spoken to Jodie and both of us have difficulty in placing you as parent of one of our pupils, but however we do feel strongly that you should come forward and discuss these matters of concern you have at any time here at the studio or at a venue of your choice. sharon Studio Director

Thanks everyone for the info, it has been a great help. Also, thanks to sensei for the info. We will definately be in touch regarding the martial arts classes but will probabely hold off until they are running in Quesada again. On a separate note, my husband is a kickboxer and was hoping that he could restart training here, have you any training nights for adults in kickboxing. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.
