Burgled !
Well.......went out last night for a very nice Chinese meal with family who are here on holiday. Came home and were watching TV. Dog started barking, so we ended up going outside to see if we could see anything, only to confront burglars who were in ....yes in....the house. They had cut the mozzie screens, opened windows, and cleaned us out of phones, laptops, watches, cameras and a whole lot more....as we sat there ! So watch out for 2 or more guys in their 20's, thin, olive skinned. Wonderful holiday for the family !
I have a feeling they are doing the rounds !

Sorry to hear about that Maz,I can imagine that it must be scary to realise,anything could of happened if they hadnt already got a fair amount out of the house.Shame also that it has more than likely ruined your families holiday
A couple of years ago while my wife was locking the windows upstairs some little B ran in and took her handbag,we are just so pleased that she didnt come downstairs while the little B was still in the house.
Luckily we were insured and on talking to the insurance agent ,We mentioned that her house keys were in the bag,he made arrangements for a locksmith and twenty minutes later one arrived and changed all the locks,and that was all covered on the insurance.
You have my full sympathy.
This is not good, especially as you were in the house.
I don't know what the answer is, more Police at night, or as on some other residencial area's some form of private security patrolling the urb
Makes you wonder if or not you are allowed to have a gun in the house.
Having come here from South Africa......don't even mention guns ! That's just asking for trouble. Here you aren't even allowed to wallop them if you catch 'em. They can do you for assault !

Wallop them hard then dump them down the road let them prove it was you and then admit there crime.

Sorry to hear Maz. It is always a nasty experience to be burgled and even worse when you are in! In reponse to "you cant wallop them" My family home was burgled and trashed the place along with it. The police were excellent, they even warned us that we are probably being watched to see when the insurance pays out..(a lovely thought to live with!) My wife was alone in the house with 2 small kids as I work on the rigs and am away a lot. Slightly nervous (it takes a lot to frighten her and would not give in to being terrorized in her own home) she asked the Police what she can do to defend her family and home. The reply (rightly or wrongly) If someone enters your property uninvited and you feel threatened (even entering the garden) you have the right to defend yourself. When my wife asked if she hurt an intruder in the garden or the house (as she would probably ring their necks and scar them for life! hehe) would she be in trouble? The answer was NO. I am not sure if this is the legal stance but the policia said they would do nothing to her if she was protecting her home and family. SHE IS STILL WAITING FOR THE LITTLE B´S TO COME BACK!
Maz we have a burglar alarm which takes photos of intruders when it is set but along with that it has a panic button which you can press if in trouble. The alarm company will ask for a password and when you give your panic one they will contact the Police or Ambualnce or Fire Brigade for you. It states on the outside of the property that we have cameras and this in itself is a deterent. We pay about 35,85 euros a month which is less than 10 euros a week. I feel it is money well spent as we can also go to bed at night and feel safe in our own home.
We've also got the same Alarm System installed. We already had one but without the added protection of the cameras. As Eve says, it isn't cheap but well worth it for piece of mind
For those of you that are concerned about burglaries i can supply and fit cctv with 4 cameras and viewable on your laptop, smartphone or ipad for around 500€ which may give a little peace of mind especially if you are away from your property a lot it may not stop them but will deter them and hopefully lead to their capture
So sorry about your miss fortune. I really does shake you up.You will never forget it. But don't lose your faith in the human race, they are all like the bastards. Hope you family can enjoy the rest of their hard earned holiday.
They are doing the rounds Maz, here on La Marina and other Urbs too, Without trying to sound like a profiteer from misfortune, people need an alarm systems. maybe not supplied and fitted by us but you need an alarm. these people would not have got in your house un noticed if your property was alarmed, walk in robberies are flavour of the month at the moment. I hope the police catch this mob soon, Keep an eye on the local papers as the police sometimes report the kind of property they recover when they catch the toerags and search their houses.

I know you may be trying to help, but I it may be a tad more prudent to PM your phone number and Email info, you never know who is looking at these forums for imfo. e.g. If you phone my house it stops the alarm from phoneing out as the line is already engaged.
So sorry to hear this Maz - how awful for you and your family. Do you not have bars on all your windows - most of the properties do?
